Trail Introduction

In the Summer of 2005, construction began on the Outdoor Education Trail (OET) at the Pee Dee Research and Education Center, stradling the Florence and Darlington County boundary. The OET consists of a 1.5 mile trail that displays interactive educational materials and focuses on the importance of natural resources found in the ecosystems of our region. The OET also offers information on how these resources are used and the role society has in resource conservation.

The first tours of the OET took place in November, 2005, and the inaugural Open House occurred on April 14th!
