Over 40 rural heritage exhibitors and their displays and the Outdoor Education Trail’s learning centers will be open all day.

10:30 – Noon Fishing Rod Casting Demonstration
Come test your rod casting skills on Dargan’s Pond with State Department of Natural Resources fisheries biologist Elizabeth Osier.
10:30 – 12:30 Birds of Prey
Stephen Schabel of The Center for Birds of Prey located in Awendaw, SC will bring some live feathered friends for an up-close encounter with our visitors. Various birds of prey will be on exhibit, and visitors will be welcome to ask questions (although we can’t guarantee that the birds will be in a mood to answer).
11:00 – 11:30 Nature’s Medicinal Plants Walk
Renowned botanist Dr. Richard Porcher, Jr. will be leading 2 half-hour nature walks with an emphasis on the medicinal uses of native plants. Dr. Porcher is Professor Emeritus at The Citadel and is the published author of several books including A Guide to Wildflowers in South Carolina and over 30 scientific papers.
12:30 – 1:00 Press Conference
Learn about the exciting new market for South Carolina’s switchgrass bioenergy crop and how that will affect farmers along the I-95 Corridor.
